ABOUT THE COURSE
The Texas New Music Festival (TNMF) takes place from August 2 to 8, 2027, at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston (MATCH) in Houston, Texas. The festival brings together over 60 international composers, conductors, and performers for a week of performances, workshops, and educational masterclasses dedicated to contemporary music.
Conductor Fellows will work directly with Guest Conductor Enrique Ramirez and the Texas New Music Ensemble, a professional orchestra comprised of musicians from top Houston arts organizations. Participants receive at least 120 minutes of podium time, lead the ensemble in five rehearsals and public concert performances of two contemporary works, and collaborate directly with composers on world premieres.
In addition to conducting duties, fellows participate in comprehensive career workshops covering score preparation, audition strategy, ensemble founding, and fundraising. Applications require video submissions, CV, repertoire list, and supporting materials.
