ABOUT THE COURSE
The Conducting Academy presents an orchestral conducting masterclass led by renowned pedagogue Johannes Schlaefli in collaboration with the Bochumer Sinfoniker. Taking place at the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr in Bochum, Germany, this intensive workshop offers conductors substantial podium time working directly with a professional German symphony orchestra.
Selected active participants will receive guaranteed podium time. The course repertoire features Richard Strauss’s Don Juan, Béla Bartók’s Hungarian Pictures, and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9. Daily sessions combine rehearsals with the orchestra, detailed group analysis, and extensive individual feedback.
The masterclass culminates in a final public concert on April 17, 2027, where all participants will conduct assigned movements from the workshop repertoire. Applications are open for conducting students and emerging professional conductors.
