ABOUT THE COURSE
The International Conducting Masterclass with Prof. Sigmund Thorp takes place from January 18 to January 21, 2027, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Organized by Juliette Music and Arts Academy, this four-day intensive course is designed for conductors seeking to refine their practical conducting technique, musical interpretation, score preparation, and ensemble leadership skills.
Active participants will receive over two hours of guaranteed podium time, working extensively with a string orchestra and a professional pianist. The curriculum covers physical mechanics, baton technique, expressive gesture, score study, analytical application, and rehearsal pedagogy, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience tailored to each conductor’s needs.
The masterclass is open to conductors of all ages with no age limit, and places are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis up to a maximum of six active participants. The program culminates in a public Final Concert, offering participants the valuable opportunity to showcase their artistic development in a live performance setting.
