ABOUT THE COURSE
The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) presents the 4th edition of its Conducting Course, led by renowned conductor and musicologist Dr. Ignacio García-Vidal in collaboration with the Joven Orquesta UMH. Held from February 25 to 28, 2027, on the Elche campus, this intensive program offers theoretical, spatial, physical, and technical instruction combined with practical experience conducting a live youth orchestra.
Participants will explore score analysis, gesture musicality, spatial control, and beating techniques before taking the podium with the Joven Orquesta UMH. The masterclass culminates in a public closing concert on Sunday, February 28, 2027, where active participants will conduct the orchestra at the Rectorado Building Auditorium.
The course is open to music students, professional conductors, band or choir directors, and music enthusiasts over 14 years old who possess a medium-high music reading proficiency. Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis upon completed registration.
