ABOUT THE COURSE
Castellón is the cradle of great musicians, great musical ensembles, and great Wind Band conductors. All this means that Castellón enjoys an unparalleled musical culture which, we must not forget, is the responsibility of all of us who form it, being part of it, promoting it, and dignifying it.
For this reason, the Unió Musical Santa Cecília d’Onda organizes, with the collaboration of the Excmo. Ajuntament d’Onda, the III Wind Band Conducting Course with conductor Johann Conductor and guest maestro Salvador Sebastià.
It will be held from March 6 to 9, 2025, and with this course, the Unió Musical and the Wind Band professor of the Centre d’Estudis Musicals d’Onda, Johann Conductor, want to provide the province of Castellón, once again, with the third edition of a conducting course where rehearsal didactics and communication with the group are the main focus. In addition, the course will feature throughout Saturday and Sunday the presence of the prestigious composer and conductor Salvador Sebastià López, a native of Burriana with extensive trajectory and experience in the wind band world.
The students will enjoy several days with conductor Johann Conductor, the first conductor in the wind band field to teach, as a tenured professor, a university postgraduate degree in the Wind Band specialty in Spain, at its headquarters in Valencia. Similarly, composer and conductor Salvador Sebastià will contribute all his knowledge about conducting musical ensembles.
Theoretical and practical classes will be held in addition to the sessions with the Unión Musical, and the closing concert will be conducted entirely by the active participants of the course. A maximum of 7 active participants and an undetermined number of auditors will be admitted. The registration period will be open from November 11, 2024, to February 23, 2025.
The course is designed for conductors, musical professionals, and even students who are currently finishing their Professional Education studies and who want to enter the wonderful world of Conducting, and specifically, the wind band repertoire.
