ABOUT THE COURSE
The Closing Masterclass & Concert is the culmination of the International Conducting Academy’s 2026 intensive training season, held in Cardiff under the leadership of Professor Colin Metters. Designed for aspiring conductors, this eight-day program offers an integrated approach to score study and physical conducting, combining virtual sessions with live rehearsals and a public final performance.
The masterclass is divided into two distinct phases. It begins with three days of virtual preparatory sessions on Zoom, focusing on collective score analysis, individual score exploration, and one-on-one personal coaching. Following this preparation, participants gather in Cardiff for five days of live training, progressing from silent conducting and work with pianos to rehearsals with string principals and a full professional orchestra, Ensemble Cambrica.
The course concludes with a public concert in Cardiff where participants conduct selected works from the rehearsal repertoire, which includes classical and symphonic masterpieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sergei Prokofiev, and Ludwig van Beethoven. All active participants receive high-quality video recordings of their conducting sessions and a certificate of participation.
