ABOUT THE COURSE
It is aimed at higher degree graduates in music or those interested in conducting of any age or background who aspire to develop their profession in the field of conducting or to boost their careers and improve their skills as conductors.
Considered one of the most important conductors of his generation, Cristóbal Soler has developed a constantly rising career, formed by a wide repertoire, both in the symphonic field and in the lyrical genre. Critics have been unanimous in highlighting his charisma and interpretive depth, as well as a precise and consolidated conducting technique. For six seasons he was the principal conductor of the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. In addition, as a guest conductor he has conducted orchestras such as the Orquesta y Coro de RTVE, OBC Nacional de Cataluña, Orquesta de Valencia, Banda sinfónica municipal de Madrid, Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Banda Municipal de Mallorca, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra (Associate and Principal Guest Conductor, 2013-2016), Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura, among others. He is currently the Artistic and Musical Director of the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Valencia and the Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de la Federación de las SSMM de la Comunidad Valenciana.
Likewise, in this masterclass we will have the presence of the prestigious mezzo-soprano Lorena Valero, who will speak to us about the professional relationship between the soloists and the musical director. Lorena Valero stands out powerfully on stage for her marked musical and theatrical personality with which she gives life to her characters, among which stand out: Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, at the Opéra -Théâtre Metz Métropole; the role of Elena in Mefistofele, by Boito, at the Théâtre du Passage Neuchâtel and at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, Switzerland; Aida at the Festival im Berg in Salzburg; Suzuki, in Madame Butterfly, at the Teatro Cilea in Reggio di Calabria and the Teatro Principal de Palma de Mallorca; Rosario, in Goyescas by Granados, at the Palau de la Música in Valencia and Lleida; the role of Salud, in La Vida Breve, by Falla, at the Opéra – Théâtre Metz Métropole, France, without forgetting other characters such as Sesto, in La Clemenza di Tito, Charlotte in Werther and Carmen, a role she will debut soon.
