ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The International Conducting Lab + Competition takes place in Greenville, South Carolina, offering an intensive four-day experience for up to 12 selected conductors. Welcoming applicants of all ages, the program combines piano and full chamber orchestra rehearsals.
Participants will receive a minimum of 50 minutes of uninterrupted podium time working with the Upstate Camerata Chamber Orchestra and pianists. The schedule includes daily video review sessions, and all 12 conductors will perform in the final concert. Candidates will be assigned movements by lottery each day.
The course features a competition where the winner is decided by a combined vote from a five-member jury panel and the orchestra. The first prize includes $3,000 USD and a shared concert engagement with the Sumter Symphony Orchestra during an upcoming season.
