ABOUT THE COURSE

The George Enescu International Competition Masterclass in Conducting, Instrumental Performance, Composition and Advanced Studies in Music will take place in Bucharest, Romania. Led by Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, the artistic director of the George Enescu Festival and Competition, this masterclass provides a unique platform for young talented musicians to develop their creative and interpretative skills. Active participants will have the opportunity to engage in deep score study, rehearsal planning, and musical communication under the guidance of leading contemporary music figures.

The masterclass is divided into three disciplines: conducting, instrumental performance, and composition, with options for both active and passive participation. The conducting sessions feature rehearsals with the prestigious Romanian Youth Orchestra and lead up to public performances at the Romanian Athenaeum, while the composition workshop includes work with a professional chamber ensemble. The organizer also provides active participants with free accommodation in single hotel rooms within walking distance of the venues.
