ABOUT THE COURSE
The Eric Ericson Award is one of the world’s most prestigious international competitions for young choral conductors under the age of 36, organized by Swedish Radio’s Berwaldhallen in collaboration with the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. Held every three years in Stockholm, the competition aims to identify and support exceptionally gifted conductors in the spirit and legacy of legendary music director Eric Ericson.
The competition is structured in two phases, starting with a video-based pre-selection and culminating in live final rounds featuring eight semi-finalists and three finalists. Candidates work with premier professional vocal ensembles, including the Swedish Radio Choir, and are evaluated by an international jury of distinguished choral experts.
The winner receives a grand prize of 100,000 SEK and the prestigious opportunity to lead productions with eleven leading EBU Media Choirs across Europe, providing a major springboard for an international career, while runners-up receive 25,000 SEK each.
