ABOUT THE COURSE
The Italian Opera Workshop in Florence provides intensive operatic conducting training under the guidance of renowned conductor Antonello Allemandi. Focusing on Gaetano Donizetti’s opera L’elisir d’amore, the four-day masterclass is designed for conductors, singers, and pianists seeking to refine their approach to standard Italian operatic repertoire and theatrical production standards.
Participants benefit from daily podium time and individual frontal instruction working alongside singers and repetitive pianists. The sessions replicate authentic theatre rehearsal environments, allowing conductors to develop essential techniques in vocal coaching, tempo management, and operatic recitative execution.
Outstanding active conducting participants may be selected to assist Antonello Allemandi in future professional opera productions at major international houses. Previous workshop assistants have secured placement in prestigious venues such as the Hungarian National Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro Coccia in Novara, and Palm Beach Opera.
