ABOUT THE COURSE
The University of North Texas College of Music presents the Conductors Collegium, a professional development program designed for instrumental music educators of all levels. The workshop provides a collaborative environment to discuss common goals, shared concerns, and practical solutions with colleagues and performers over two flexible weeks.
Participants can choose between a Full Experience or a Non-Performer track, selecting from two to four consecutive three-day rounds. The morning curriculum focuses on lectures, discussions, and small group coaching modules covering topics like score study, rehearsal techniques, and education philosophy. In the afternoons, Full Experience participants conduct live sessions with the North Texas Wind Symphony.
The collegium limits active participation to 44 conductors selected through an application process. Each round culminates in an evening concert performance, which is recorded from multiple angles for the participants’ review and use. Public school educators can also receive continuing education credits for their attendance.
