ABOUT THE COURSE
The Arvo Pärt Centre Masterclass for Choral Conductors takes place from 8 to 11 April 2027 at the Arvo Pärt Centre in Laulasmaa, Estonia. Designed for choral conductors at university level or above with previous conducting experience, this intensive four-day workshop offers an immersive exploration of Arvo Pärt’s music alongside early vocal polyphonic works. Up to eight active participants and 30 observers will participate in the programme.
Led by master teachers Paul Hillier and George Parris alongside professional ensemble The Carice Singers, active conductors will receive approximately 20 minutes of daily podium time, individual conducting sessions, and additional consultations. The program also features lectures by APC researchers, guided tours of the Centre’s archives and exhibitions, a documentary film screening, and a joint Tallinn excursion.
The masterclass concludes with a final public concert on 11 April in the Arvo Pärt Centre Concert Hall, where active participants will conduct The Carice Singers alongside the faculty. Meals and refreshments are provided, while participants are responsible for their own accommodation arrangements.
