ABOUT THE COURSE
Atso Almila is a composer, conductor, and Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Academia Sibelius in Helsinki since 2013 and retired in 2019. He was a student of Jorma Panula at the Academia Sibelius in Helsinki between 1974 and 1977. He has worked as Principal Conductor of the Teatro Nacional de Finlandia, Conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic, the Joensuu Orchestra, the Kuopio Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Seinäjoki Orchestra. He also regularly gives masterclasses in Finland and the Czech Republic. He has also offered classes in Ireland, China, Norway, and Sweden. His rich artistic experience and his special pedagogical charisma make him one of the most sought-after and admired Conducting maestros in the world in recent years.
12 active participants will take part, selected by maestro Almila. All will conduct rehearsals with the Camerata Antonio Soler for 20 minutes each day and all students will have the opportunity to conduct in the final concert. This concert will take place at the Teatro Carlos III in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a beautiful historic theater from the 18th century.
